Plant Hyacinth bulbs in the fall, about 6-8 weeks before frost. Water hyacinths only during a dry autumn. Protect container-grown plants from excessive winter moisture. After plants are finished flowering in the spring, cut back their flower stalks, but allow the leaves to die back naturally. Potted varieties of bulbs are marginally hardy and may not re-bloom next season.
